Founded by Chief Executive Smangaliso Mkhabela in 2013, The Shard began with a bold idea: unite the complementary skills of actuaries, accountants, auditors, and analysts to offer the financial industry a new kind of consulting partner.

We saw an opportunity to break silos and provide an integrated approach to risk, finance and data challenges. Starting as a small team in Johannesburg, The Shard has grown over the past decade into a dynamic firm serving both private and public sector clients across South Africa and beyond.

Our journey has been defined by continuous learning, agility, and an entrepreneurial spirit. While we have expanded our team and client base, we remain committed to the personalized, hands-on service that defined our early days.
