Managing Partner: Data Science and Analytics

James G Wanjiku is the Managing Partner for Data Science & Analytics at The Shard, where he leads a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, actuaries, and accountants in designing and delivering custom data and technology solutions across a diverse range of industries and sectors.

His experience spans the full solution lifecycle — from data architecture and engineering through to business intelligence, data science and artificial intelligence, directing the end-to-end build of custom platforms, decision-support systems, and insight-driven solutions that enable organisations to extract measurable value from their data.

James is a Fellow of both the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA) and the Actuarial Society of South Africa (FASSA), with over a decade of experience across technical reserving, IFRS 17, and capital modelling in African insurance and reinsurance markets. This quantitative foundation underpins the analytical rigour and governance standards he brings to every engagement at The Shard.
